Frequently Asked Questions — Fitness Training LLC in Beaverton, OR

Getting Started
Where is your studio located? Are you a personal trainer near me in Beaverton?
Yes — Fitness Training LLC is a private personal training studio located in Beaverton, OR (zip code 97008), serving the greater Portland metro area including Beaverton, Hillsboro, Tigard, and surrounding communities. Unlike a big commercial gym, you train in a focused, private environment — no crowds, no waiting for equipment, no distractions.
Do I need to already be in shape before I start?
Not at all. That’s actually one of the biggest myths about personal training. Most of the people I work with are starting from scratch, coming back after a long break, or dealing with pain and limitations that have kept them from exercising. You don’t need to be fit to start — you just need to start. We meet you exactly where you are.
How do I get started?
The easiest way is to book your first training session. There’s no commitment, no sales pitch — just a real session so you can experience the training firsthand and see if it’s a good fit.
About the Training
What is ATG — Knees Over Toes training?
ATG stands for Athletic Truth Group, founded by Ben Patrick (also known as the “Knees Over Toes Guy”). It’s a training methodology focused on building strong, pain-free joints — especially the knees, hips, and ankles — through progressive loading and full range-of-motion movement.
I’m an ATG Certified Coach (Knees Over Toes), one of a limited number of certified ATG coaches in Oregon. This approach works especially well for people with knee pain, past injuries, or anyone who wants to move better and stay active long-term. You can find me on the official ATG coach map at map.ATGforcoaches.com.
What types of training do you offer?
One on one personal training and partner training (max two people per session) in my private Beaverton studio. Virtual training for clients outside Beaverton or who prefer to train from home. Mobility and ATG (Knees Over Toes) work are built into every program rather than sold as a separate service. No drop in classes, no large group circuits.
How long are sessions?
Most sessions run 60 minutes.
Do you offer partner or group training?
Yes. Partner Training is available in the same private studio with a maximum of two people per session. See the Small Group / Partner Training page for the full details. I don’t run drop-in classes or large group circuits.
How often should I train?
Most of my clients land in Adaptation (two sessions per week), which is the minimum frequency for measurable physiological change. Acceleration (three per week) fits clients with a timeline or significant comeback work. Accountability (one per week) works well for self-directed athletes, maintenance phases, and people who want expert eyes on their training without overhauling their schedule. We’ll figure out the right cadence in your intro session.
Pain, Injuries & Special Populations
I have chronic pain, old injuries, or I’ve had surgery. Can I still train with you?
Yes — and this is actually my specialty. I came from construction, not fitness. Years of hard physical labor left me with chronic pain, spinal damage, and multiple surgeries — an SI joint fusion in 2017, and lumbar spine surgeries in 2018 and 2020. Training is what rebuilt me.
I work with a lot of people who have been told they can’t exercise, or who feel like regular training isn’t for them because of their history. I know what it feels like to hurt, and I know how to train around — and through — those limitations safely and progressively. If you’re dealing with knee pain, hip problems, back issues, or recovering from surgery, you’re in the right place.
Note: I am not a physical therapist or physician. For serious medical conditions, always work alongside your healthcare provider.
I’m in my 40s or 50s. Am I too young for this, or too late to start?
Neither. A lot of the people I train are somewhere between 40 and 60. That is usually when the approach that used to work stops working, and it is the best window there is to change where the next twenty years go. We start where you are, one on one, in the studio.
Do you work with older adults or seniors?
Absolutely. Staying mobile, strong, and independent as you age doesn’t happen by accident — it takes intentional training. I work with older adults who want to keep doing the things they love: hiking, playing with grandkids, traveling, staying active on their own terms. The training is adapted to where you are right now, not where someone else thinks you “should” be.
Can you help with knee pain?
Yes. As an ATG certified coach, knee health is one of my primary areas of focus. The Knees Over Toes methodology uses progressive loading through full range of motion to strengthen the tendons, muscles, and joints around the knee — often reducing or eliminating chronic knee pain over time. Many of my clients came to me specifically because of knee problems and have seen significant improvement.
The Studio & Experience
What makes your private studio different from a big box gym in Beaverton?
At a commercial gym, you’re one of hundreds of members. At my studio, every session is intentional, focused, and built around you. There’s no waiting for equipment, no self-consciousness, no generic programs. You get my full attention, and we move at your pace.
The environment is no-shame, no-judgment, and genuinely supportive. My clients range from people who have never set foot in a gym to former athletes rebuilding after injury. What they all have in common is that they want to train sustainably — not just for a season, but for life.
Is this a good fit for someone who’s never really worked out before?
Yes — one of the most common things I hear is “I’ve never really known what I’m doing in a gym.” That’s exactly who this is built for. We start where you are, build the basics properly, and progress from there. No experience needed.
Pricing & Booking
What are your rates for personal training?
Ongoing program rates are shared during your Intro Training Session, not on the website. Programs come in three tiers based on weekly frequency (Accountability for one session per week, Adaptation for two, Acceleration for three), with Partner pricing available for two-person sessions. The Intro Training Session itself is $79, one hour, one on one, in the studio.
Do you offer virtual or online personal training?
Schedule yours hereYes. Virtual training is available for clients who want to train remotely. Whether you’re outside the Beaverton area or simply prefer training from home, we can design a program that works in your space with the equipment you have.
What is your cancellation policy?
When you enroll in a weekly program, you’re reserving a recurring time slot with me. If you need to cancel a session, I’ll try to find a makeup time within the same week or the following week, schedule permitting. Missed sessions don’t roll over as credits and aren’t refunded, because what you’re paying for is the slot, not the session. For vacations of three or more weeks, talk to me ahead of time and we can discuss options. Existing clients on legacy arrangements: nothing changes for you, your terms are unchanged.
